Want to hear another benefit about Penzeys? They send out catalogs about every quarter (maybe more) that's filled with recipes from Penzeys customers. The recipes obvs contain Penzeys spices, and I usually find at least 1 recipe from every issue I just have to try. The awesome thing about these catalogs (besides the recipes) is the coupon that comes with it! It's usually for a free spice, or $5 off a $10 purchase. Aaaaand, if the coupon expires, Penzeys takes expired coupons up to 2 years passed the expiration date! I mean, the reasons just keep going on and going on about this place.
Oh, I must tell you about the taste test. Ahhh the taste test. To prove to my Mother in Law that Penzeys spices were not only less expensive, but actually better than the grocery store kind, we did a taste test with cinnamon. She bought one of the Penzeys cinnamons (there are 3 or 4 different kinds) and had some of her old store bought cinnamon left. We each took a turn giving each other a dab of each and guessed which one was the Penzeys and which one was the store bought one. We both knew right away which was which- it was Penzeys fo sho!
Anyway, my Marm on Monday is about us baking these cookies last night. They are Brown Sugar Applesauce Cookies from the newest Penzeys catalog. Super yummy. I was a little worried when I tasted the dough (which is usually my favorite part), it was a little bland. But, after they are cooked and the icing is added ( sorta like burnt butter frosting which is my absolute fave) they are yum city!!
Here are our pics.... If anyone wants the recipe, just let me know! I can send it to you, or add it to my post.
