Baby B Time!

On Friday night I got to babysit the sweetest little sweetie baby there is... Baby B!

Our friends Evan and Sara went out for the night, so I got to soak up some precious B time. My parent's (who we call WBG for Wanna Be Gramma/Grandpa) stopped over to bring some dinner and see B too!

It was so fun! They had gotten KFC, so I put B in her high-chair and plopped a pile of mashed potatoes in front of her and watched her have so much fun! As you can see below, I am not sure how much she actually ate, and how much she got all over herself, but it was fun none the less. Love that Baby so much!

It started out innocent....
Thanks for the grub Mommy and Daddy!

Thinking so hard about what to do with this delicious fluffy stuff: eat it, or smear all over myself? That's a tough one. I'll do both.

Hmmm someone thinks they are funny!

This Baby needed a bath!

Company is coming....

I'm interrupting the regularly scheduled programming of Marm on Monday to bring you this late breaking news. Really it's not late or breaking news. Wait, is late breaking news 1 thing, or 2? You know late breaking or late, breaking? Hmmm I'm onto something there.

If you don't know, I work for Walgreens! W Club, what's up? I recently was promoted to be a store manager. Me, a store manager? Yep, that's right. I get to be the boss! Except for when my boss, his boss, and his boss's boss come to my store! You see, last week my boss-Mr. W- sent an e-mail out asking 5 stores to volunteer to have a meeting at their store on either August 1st  or 2nd. It won't be just any meeting, it will be a meeting with very important Walgreens Managers. There will be 8ish people at the meeting. So, little old me decided to volunteer! I have to get noticed somehow, right?

I still don't know if I am going to be the store who they are going to be going to, but, if I am... I not only want my store to look perfect (that's a given), but I want to have a delicious spread of breakfast treats for my company.

So, I need your help! What should I make?

Here are my ideas so far...

Petite Vanilla Bean Scones from Pioneer Woman. I have made these and LOVE them.

Martha Stewart's Blueberry Muffins... these were my Sweet's idea. I like it (and him!).

Fruit Kabobs- super easy.

And I feel like 1 more thing.... maybe this Raspberry hazelnut jelly roll I saw in my last Martha magazine? Anyone?

I'm open for ideas people....

Words of Wisdom from Mama

One of the finest human traits is giving and expecting nothing in return. Nature has a way of perfecting this gift.

D. Elton Trueblood said it best;

"A man has made at least a start on discovering the meaning of human life when he plants shade trees under which he knows full well he will never sit."

Don't forget to take the time to smell the flowers today!

Iced Lattes, Baby!

This weekend my Husband and I surprised my in-laws and popped into their house. We came equipped with games and an espresso machine! Mama got me my espresso machine for my Bridal Shower and I just got the milk frother to go with it. So... naturally I had to bring it over to try it out! The verdict? Delicious. I like my coffee flavored, so I can't wait to get some of those syrups they use in coffee shops to flavor mine up. Here's some proof of the new gadgets!

Here she is. What a beauty huh? It's a Nespresso Pixie.
The milk frothing up a storm!

My sweet and his Mama looking at the milk frothing. They are too cute.

Our delicious drinks. See the frothed milk at the top? Jealous?

Couple an Iced Latte with a Rice Krispie treat on a fancy plate and this girl is happy!

Marm on Monday: Chocolate Pinwheel Cookies

Well, it's no secret the McCambridge household likes sweets! They're so fun to make and so delicious to eat. It seems that on Monday nights my sweet and I end up making a little treat. This treat lasts for a majority of the week and is just great as a little extra when I'm drinking my coffee in the morning.

We decided on a chocolate pinwheel cookie. The cookie didn't call for any baking soda or baking powder so they are really flat. Also, I don't think I rolled them tight enough so our cookies look more like a "marble" than a "pinwheel." Overall they were just okay; I won't make them again, but they will be a tasty treat none the less.

Ready for some action shots??

Here's what they are supposed to look like. And, is it just me, or do they not look very flat in the pic?
My man being a helper!

Cocoa... yum.

Going in the oven.

Here's what ours looked like- marble, right?

Words of Wisdom on Friday from Mommy

The best way to change a bad mood is to SMILE.
Turn that frown upside down.
Not only does it make yourself feel better but the people around you can benefit from a happy face. When people see you smile it puts a smile on their face.
Frowns and scowls push people away but a smile can make everyone feel better. A smiling person brings happiness with them.

Did you know there are health benefits to smiling:
1. Relives stress
2. Boosts your Immune system
3. Lowers your blood pressure
4. releases endorphins, natural pain killers and serotonin
5. Lifts the face and makes you look younger
6. Helps you stay positive.

Try this test: Smile. Now try to think of something negative without losing the smile. It's hard. When we smile our body is sending the rest of us a message that "Life is Good!" Stay away from depression, stress and worry by smiling.

Who would have thought that something as simple and easy as a smile would be one of the healthiest things we can do for ourselves.

So get healthy...SMILE!

My children are what make me smile!

Remember my Garden?

Hmmm is it bad if I haven't touched my garden since we planted it two weeks before my wedding? Yikes, huh? We hadn't touched it in a month! I mean, come on.... how do we expect anything to grow, right? Well, there was this little thing called a wedding that took up all of my time and most of my parents' free time!

So, now that we are all finally caught up with other things that got pushed to the wayside for the last few months, we decided to venture out to the garden and take a look. And my, oh my, was it a sight. You couldn't even tell there were vegetables planted! Don't believe me?

This is what a garden looks like if you don't give it any TLC for a month!
So, my Mom, Dad, Gram, and I set out to work pulling weeds on Sunday morning. And, man was it hard work! It was super hot and humid and with all that pulling and dumping we got a workout. After a few hours we started to actually see the plants! And, much to my surprise, they are doing quite well! For sure the tomatoes, peppers, and onions are doing great. We found the beans in the middle, and cucumbers and squash on the edges. But, the carrots, broccoli, lettuce, spinach, and cauliflower- RIP. We will try you again next year.

Our after picture is impressive, but by no means complete.
So much better! Why, hello there little peppers...

Peppers are a comin

Garden tomatoes... so delicious!

Mom and Gram's handy work on the onions

There you are, beans!

Mom and Gram taking a break
Dad doesn't get breaks.... hehe

Do you see that pile of weeds? Imagine about 25 more- that's how many there were!
Hard at work....

Now that's what I call, "bringing home the bacon"! Our first harvests: cherry tomato and red thai chili pepper.

Birthday Girl

It's Sara's birthday today. Sara is one of our bestest friends. She is Baby B's mommy and Evan's (Roomie's) wife.

We went out to dinner last night to celebrate! Nacho Mama's in Stillwater... the portions were so huge my Sweet and I just got 1 thing and split it, and Evan and Sara got 1 thing and split it. Love it when you can do that! We tried to go to Nelson's afterwards for dessert, but it was closed :0( So, Dairy Queen it was.

Happy Happy Birthday Sara... We love you!!!

Love this pic of the Birthday Girl!

My Bachelorette Party

My wonderful, amazing, beautiful sister threw me the perfect bachelorette party! You see, I do not drink. And, most bachelorette parties include drinking and bars... well, that's just not my thing! So, my sister planned me a bachelorette party that did not include drinking or bars. It was like a fairytale. She sent out super personalized invites to everyone.

Imagine how excited I was opening this...
The swaray (sp?) was held at Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis. Just beautiful. She knows how much of a nature lover I am, so the outdoor setting by a lake was just the bees knees. I loved everything about the shower- the food, people, decor, weather, gifts, and just all the love I felt from all of my closest friends who attended.

I am going to let the photos do the talking... Let me just tell you, it was perfect. I loved it. And, I have the best sister in the world. I love you my sweet, thoughtful, beautiful soul of a sister!

All set up before anyone got there... Doesn't it look like something from a fairytale?

Love these ladies!

Chana went to the market and got flowers for the shower- so pretty!

Oh, hey guys! Flavored sparkling water with fresh fruit.

Citronella candles... bugs be gone!

Sara and Baby B! Thank you so much for helping Chan put things together... you're so great :0)

I mean, come on? Magazine worthy... right?

Did I mention she thought of everything?

Delicious venison steak salad.

More beautiful flow flows

Luminaries when it got dark... so majestic!

Everyone had cloth napkins. She thrifted for them!

Sunflowers baby!

How adorable, right?

Mama and Bestie! Bestie is excited.... Love them

OMG this was amazing. French silk pie in a mason jar. I've had dreams about it...

Our little plot of paradise.

So, I realize after going through here that the first two courses weren't pictured. First course: Avocado salad- She literally cut the avocados as we sat there so they would be fresh, and fresh bread. Second course: chilled coconut and parmesan soup (Chan, correct me on this one) I don't exactly remember what was in this... I just remember loving it! Main course: venison salad. And, dessert: french silk pie in a mason jar. Can you even imagine how much work it was for her to bring all of this stuff out to the site, prepare it all, and then clean it up? So thankful.
